A 5 years deal with Getronics has been signed by AGS once leaving the Heathrow Holdings.

After a split from the Heathrow Holdings last year, AGS Airports has now outsourced its IT support so to let the internal technology team to emphasise on streamlining the business. Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton airports are covered by AGS. They have made a five-year deal with the company Getronics that provides outsourced IT support services so now it is an autonomous company.


According to the information provided by its new owners, Ferrovial and Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets, the above mentioned three airports’ IT systems have been decided to unite into one central managed infrastructure so that the outsourcer can reduce the burden on its IT team of three airports.

As per the news, around 13 million clients used the airports the previous year. The head of IT, Chris Tames narrated that it was essential to find an outsourced partner that could quickly manage the transition, without interrupting the day to day activities of the airports. This contract was given to Getronics over the Heathrow incumbent Capgemini in August.


Tames informed that the ability of Getronics to deliver a local support base was just three miles away from the Glasgow Airport’s runway and it was better than the offer of Capgemini’s offshore support. This was so because the AGS is quite a smaller organisation than the Heathrow so Getronics is just like this company.

They have a good chance to know the people more. For all the three airports on December 17, Getronics has brought an IT services desk online due to which, an improvement in the client’s satisfaction has been observed. AGS is also planning to shift its networking systems to Getronics by the mid of February.

With the assistance of the outsourcing company, Tames and his team are now pointing their emphasis to innovative projects and focusing on analytics and data integration so that the airports can run more efficiently.
